Steve Wilson and David Hanks founded HCFC in 1994.  A company based on the need in the marketplace for knowledgeable and experienced HDPE fusion technology and reputable construction knowledge of HDPE.  Our first project as a company was to assist with the installation method and fusion for a 63" diameter 3,500" HDPE ocean out fall line.  We were awarded the project because of our reputation and expertise in large diameter HDPE fusion techniques.

In 1996 HCFC embarked on new territory and proposed to a large entertainment company that their new exhibit be built utilizing HDPE piping for all of the sea water supply lines instead of the approved fiberglass piping.  Some of the reasons for this proposal were to solve problems they were having with the fiberglass piping which was currently in use with their other tanks.  The problems presented to us were the pipe was between +2 to minus 40 feet below seal level. The soil was sandy and very unstable .  They were experiencing a serious loss of expensive chilled seawater due to cracked and leaking piping because of the soil instability.  There was also serious pressure surge in the piping and corrosiveness of the sea water inside and outside of the pipe lines.

HCFC answered the call by proposing HDPE for their piping needs.  We could solve the ground instability problem by having a flexible piping system.  We could solve their leek problem by having a completely fused pipeline with no possibility of joint separation.  We were able to solve their pressure surge and water hammer problem with HDPE's ability to take up to a 10:1 water hammer without bursting.  The biggest benefit was the amortized cost savings they would see with the reduced loss of their expensive chilled sea water and better flow characteristics.  Every gallon of water pumped out would be able to be accounted for.  The project was a complete success and serious education for us.

The above project was a pivotal turning point for HCFC.  We were experiencing the first hand need in the industry for a reputable supplier of HDPE fittings.  It was astounding to us that there was such a difficulty in the industry with the procurement and timely delivery of HDPE fittings.

Steve, having been the head and developer of our former employer's HDPE fittings manufacturing program, believed that we, as a company could serve the industry with high quality HDPE fittings and fill the void left open by the lack of service, commitment to delivery and quality manufacturing that was the status quo in the industry.

IN 1997 our vision grew to include the manufacture of high quality HDPE products.  We then began the design work on the facility you see here today that would enable us to realize our new goal.

IN 2002 We recognized the incredible response to our fittings that we focused on expanding our facility to more than double its previous size.

IN 2006 We opened a branch in Salt Lake City, Utah where we found that we could better serve many of our growing customer base with the added warehouse and rental/repair location as well as the increase in manpower to service the area.

We have evolved into a company made up of 40+ employees that are dedicated to the future of High Density Polyethylene Pipe and fittings.  We hope our full HDPE product offering, from McElroy Fusion equipment to custom fittings and manholes to our inventory of more than 30 truckloads of pipe couple with our extensive HDPE expertise and excellent customer service will convince you that High Country Fusion is you best partner and 'The Perfect Fit'.
